Brooklyn venue Baby’s All RIght celebrated its first birthday last week with a string of stacked shows. I was there on Friday and Saturday night for a fantastic Porches./Frankie Cosmos double header and the energy of the crowd was palpable, and things apparently were even crazier at a Mexican Summer-sponsored party on Thursday that was headlined by Connan Mockasin. According to Brooklyn Vegan, the lights went off before Connan’s set and Perfect Pussy’s Meredith Graves came on stage to sing “Happy Birthday,” which was followed by a shirtless Mac DeMarco popping out of a giant cake and flinging himself into the audience. (Which isn’t OK — didn’t we just go over this?) The rest of Thursday night’s show consisted of Connan and his band playing a set shirtless and encouraging the audience to do the same.
