Jonny Greenwood has been writing classical music for some time now, and his latest work “Water” is being performed by the Australian Chamber Orchestra this fall. Greenwood and orchestra director Richard Tognetti sat down for a fascinating, candid video interview that sheds a lot of light on the project and previews the music. Particularly interesting are Greenwood’s reasons for gravitating toward live orchestral music as opposed to what he does with Radiohead. He finds the act of writing ideas on paper and witnessing other people bring them to life deeply “modern,” which is ironic considering that method predates recording technology by several centuries. Anyhow, the thing is definitely worth watching, so watch below.
