California X – “Hadley, MA”

Massachusetts fuzz-punks California X are a few weeks away from releasing their sophomore LP Nights In The Dark. "Hadley, MA," the third of the songs they've shared from the album, is a lot softer and slower and more bittersweet than previous singles "Nights In The Dark" and "Red Planet." It's a bit of a scraped-out dirge, honestly, though it still ascends to the sunbaked classic-rock heights this band regularly strives for. The song-ending guitar solo, in particular, shows that they're in no hurry to shake the Dinosaur Jr. comparisons that habitually follow them around. Listen to the song below.
