Who Should Star In The Girls Just Want To Have Fun Remake?

Today Variety reports that the 1985 cult classic Girls Just Want To Have Fun is being remade. This is huge news for fans of the often overlooked, actually quite witty dance movie (if Dorothy Parker wrote a teen dance movie in the '80s, it would be GJWTHF), and hopefully the writer they hired, Michelle Morgan, will be smart enough to leave in lines like Helen Hunt's immortal koan: "I just know I must be horny!" (Not to mention Jonathan Silverman's classic boob-touching game "Tune In Tokyo!") But which actors in today's Young Hollywood are worthy of the movie's seven most iconic roles? Here are some suggestions from someone totally uninformed about today's teen actors. I mean, like, really really really uninformed. Do you know how few actually talented actors under the age of 25 there are out there? Like, three! Casting movies is really hard!

Hilarious Sidekick Lynne Stone (Originally Helen Hunt):

Love Interest/Dance Partner Jeff Malene (Orig. Lee Montgomery):

Mean Girl Natalie Sands (Orig. Holly Gagnier):

Jeff's Goofy Best Friend, Drew Boreman (Orig. Jonathan Silverman):

Jeff's Adorable Little Sister Maggie Malene (Orig. Shannen Doherty):

Extra: Guy Who's Under The Table At The Coming Out Party (Orig. Robert Downey, Jr.):

And Goofy, Innocent New Girl In Town Who Just Wants To Dance, Janey Glenn (Orig. Sarah Jessica Parker): No Idea!:

Anne Hathaway would be perfect, but she's too old! And don't give me Miley Cyrus. We want this movie to be reasonably good. You know what would be GREAT? If they used covers of the same songs from the original movie, like, have MGMT do "Dancing In Heaven" or something. And Dance TV diva Ricki could be played by Britney Spears. I don't know. Making movies is probably, like, really hard. I happen to have watched GJWTHF last weekend, though, and one thing is certain: Michael Cera is today's Jonathan Silverman.
