Shigeto – “Do My Thing” (Stereogum Premiere)

Shigeto is the moniker of Michigan-based Zach Saginaw, whose bass-heavy electronic music contains metallic synths and undercurrents of dubstep. We’ve previously posted his remixes of Sufjan Stevens and Hundred Waters. The worlds between instrumental hip-hop and electronica are fused in his latest release, “Do My Thing,” taken from his upcoming Intermission EP. Saginaw pulls from a multitude of electronic and even new wave influences across the track, mixing ambient sounds with urban accents. Robotic beats tinker and shimmer throughout, a fresh foray into coalescing genres. Listen below.

01 “Pulse”
02 “City Dweller”
03 “Gently”
04 “Do My Thing”
05 “Deep Breathing”
06 “Need Nobody”

Intermission is out 10/30 via Ghostly. Pre-order it here.
