We named Grimes' latest offering, Art Angels, the best album of 2015 because it sounds like an innovative work of mad genius. It's Claire Boucher's unique and concise vision -- one that could easily soundtrack an as-yet-uninvented video game -- that lends itself well to visual interpretation. We already saw the baroque Boucher-directed video for "Flesh Without Blood/Life In The Vivid Dream," which introduced us to some of the Art Angels that surround Boucher's Grimes persona, and last night she posted a photo to Instagram of herself surrounded by supporting angels. She's been teasing the "Kill V. Maim" video for a long time. When I saw her perform in New York back in November, Grimes talked a bit about working on it, hinting that it was going to be a true spectacle.
