Robert Plant – “The Blanket Of Night” (Elbow Cover)

On the new compilation The Long Road, a benefit album being released by the British Red Cross, Robert Plant, the king of all rock howlers, appears alongside newer artists like Kindness and Tinariwen. And he also covers a newer artist. For his contribution, Plant takes on "The Blanket Of Night," a song that UK gloom-rockers Elbow included on their 2014 album The Take Off and Landing Of Everything. Plant's version of the song is low-key and restrained, and it really shows how well-preserved his upper register is. Listen to it below, via Spotify.

The Long Road is out now.
