Amongst rumors that American Football might be releasing new music sometime soon, Mike Kinsella has been working on a new LP from his solo project Owen. The King Of Whys is the first Owen album to not be recorded in Chicago. Instead, Kinsella decamped to Eau Claire, Wisconsin with Bon Iver’s S. Carey, who both produced and played on the album, making this also the first Owen album that features outside collaboration. “Lost,” the album’s first single, displays the Bon Iver influence with string accompaniment and driving upright bass pluck, while Kinsella sings about maneuvering the newfound success of an old band and his family. Check it out below.
The King Of Whys is out 7/20 on Polyvinyl. Pre-order it here.
