Arthur Baker was one of the most important producers of the '80s. He worked with Afrika Bambaataa on "Planet Rock," co-wrote "Confusion" and "Thieves Like Us" with New Order, and signed New Edition. He is a big deal. So it's cool to see that the Avalanches have recruited Baker to remix their recent single "Subways." Baker has essentially remixed the song disco-edit-style, stretching it out and giving it a deeper thump. His remix will appear on a new Avalanches EP of "Subways" remixes, which will also include a reworking from Leo James and an extended version of "In Flagranti." Below, listen to Baker's take on the track, via Pitchfork.
