For years now, the New York producer Kingdom has been developing his own form of dance music, one that draws on R&B’s melodic sense and house music’s primal euphoria while still maintaining its own twitchy and peculiar sensibility. He’s produced tracks for Kelela and D?WN, and he’s founded the cooler-than-cool Fade To Mind label. But he hasn’t released an album of his own. That’s about to change. Next year, Kingdom is set to release his excellently titled debut album Tears In The Club, which includes collaborations with singers like TDE’s SZA and the Internet’s leader Syd Tha Kid. Syd lends her vocals to “Nothin’,” a sharp and jittery dance-pop banger that you can hear below.
Tears In The Club is out 2/24 on Fade To Mind.
