Earlier today, Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) was permitted to leave South Africa after apologizing for carrying a travel document not recognized by the local government, and now he's announced a series of shows scheduled for later this year that he says will be his final US performances. Billboard reports he'll perform at Harlem's Apollo Theater on 12/21 before heading to Washington, D.C. for a string of farewell shows from 12/31-1/2 at the John F. Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts. Bey will perform songs from a different album each night alongside new material, and each night will feature surprise guests.

Earlier this year, Bey announced that he would be retiring from the music business.
