Nine Dead In Fire At 100% Silk Party In Oakland

At least nine people were killed last night in a fire at an Oakland warehouse party held by LA electronic label 100% Silk. Golden Donna, Cherushii, Nackt, and more were set to perform at the event. The East Bay Times reports that the fire broke out at around 11:30PM PST, and it took the 55 firefighters called to the scene over four hours to get the blaze under control. There was no sprinkler system in the building, and another 25 concertgoers are still unaccounted for. "This is a true loss for the city, for the firefighters who responded, and the people who lost family and friend," said Fire Chief Teresa Deloach-Reed. "It’s just tragic, a real tragedy."
