HBO has announced that they will debut The Defiant Ones, a four-part documentary series chronicling the lives and long business bromance of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. Director Allen Hughes (Dead Presidents, Menace II Society, The Book Of Eli) has signed on to helm the project. Hughes filmed Iovine and Dre over a three-year period for the documentary, but the doc goes as far back as Iovine's upbringing as the son of a Brooklyn longshoreman and Dre's days growing up in Compton all they way up to their mogul status. He also interviewed Bono, Eminem, Nas, Ice Cube, Gwen Stefani, Tom Petty, Trent Reznor, Snoop Dogg, and Bruce Springsteen. The doc also features previously unreleased footage from recording sessions with Eazy-E, JJ Fad, Stevie Nicks, N.W.A, Tom Petty, Bruce Spingsteen, and U2 among others. There is no release date for the project as of yet.
