Jennifer Hudson will star as Aretha Franklin in an upcoming biopic about the singer, as Deadline reports. She was apparently hand-picked by Franklin for the role. Hudson's film debut was, of course, for portraying Effie White in Dreamgirls, which she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar.
