Pusha-T – “Coming Home” (Feat. Ms. Lauryn Hill)

Just two days ago, Pusha-T officially released the Kash Doll collab “Sociopath,” a Daytona outtake that leaked back in April. Today he’s back with another new track presented with the same graphic design. King Push tells Beats 1’s Ebro Darden that he’s building toward another album before year’s end and is currently sitting on about nine new songs, once again all produced by Kanye West. Exciting!

This latest song is called “Coming Home,” and it pairs Pusha with a prestigious duet partner, Ms. Lauryn Hill. Kanye’s production evokes his own records around the time he released his own “Homecoming.” The track also credits Kanye’s close collaborator Mike Dean plus Michael Masser and Ron Miller, presumably the writers behind the unidentified sample.

Pusha says “Coming Home” is a song about “mass incarceration — just giving hope to the people who are coming home and people who waitin’ on ‘em. And we gonna be out here as a support system when they get home.” In conjunction with the song’s release, he is partnering with Brittany K. Barnett’s Buried Alive Project and MiAngel Cody’s The Decarceration Collective to launch the Third Strike Coming Home Campaign. According to a press release, “The initiative aims to free people serving life in prison today under yesterday’s outdated 3 Strikes Drug Law. Specifically, Pusha T kicked off the campaign with a $25K donation and will support Barnett and Cody as they look to hire more lawyers to fight for more people who are buried alive under life sentences for federal drug crimes.”

Hear “Coming Home” below, where you can also watch a highlight reel from Pusha’s interview with Ebro.

“Coming Home” is out now on G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam.
