Deradoorian – “Corsican Shores”

Angel Deradoorian announced her new album Find The Sun one day before Tom Hanks announced he had COVID-19, the NBA suspended its season, and the United States began taking coronavirus seriously. The unfortunate timing means Deradoorian is now in the middle of a six-month rollout, with the initial late May release date pushed all the way back to September. The plus side is the extended campaign means we get more fire singles from the album.

Deradoorian has already shared Find The Sun tracks “Saturnine Night,” “Monk’s Robes,” and “It Was Me.” Today she adds “Corsican Shores,” an upbeat, loosely dreamy retro garage rocker in that Dum Dum Girls/Vivian Girls/Beach Fossils vein, but with vocals that scream Stereolab. “Why so scared to dive?” she sings. “It’s not like it’s the first time.”

In a press release, Deradoorian says, “The song is about a woman truly focusing on herself for the first time. No relationship, no help, just unknown territory. A song about feeling more comfortable in my darkness than whatever joy could possibly be.” It’s a true standout from an album that is shaping up to be very good. Hear it below.

Find The Sun is out 9/18 on ANTI-. Pre-order it here.
