John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter, & Daniel Davies – “My Name Is Death”

The legend John Carpenter has spent the past few years composing the scores for the David Gordon Green-directed trilogy of Halloween films, alongside his now frequent collaborators Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies. And since 2015, Carpenter has been putting out a series of albums with that same pair called Lost Themes, the very loose concept being that these could be scores to movies that Carpenter has never made. The most recent installment in this series, Lost Themes III: Alive After Death, came out in 2021, and today Carpenter is announcing another entry, Lost Themes IV: Noir.

“Sandy [King, John’s wife and producer] had given John a book for Christmas, of pictures from noir films, all stills from that era,” Davies shared in a statement. “I was looking through it, and I thought, ‘I like that imagery, and what those titles make me think of. What if we loosely based it around that? What if the titles were of some of John’s favorite noir films?’”

Lead single “My Name Is Death” is out now, and it comes with a music video that stars Weyes Blood aka Natalie Mering, SadGirl’s Misha Lindes, and the Paranoyds’ Staz Lindes. Watch and listen below.
