Sessa – “Nome de Deus”

Helena Wolfenson

This guy Sessa is bringing Tropicália back. The São Paulo-based singer-songwriter born Sergio Sayeg announced his new album Pequena Vertigem de Amor last month with the release of lead single "Vale A Pena." This week he's followed it up with another advance track.

"Nome de Deus" is a relatively low-key song with a serious skip in its step. Some of that pizzazz comes courtesy of pianist Marcelo Maita, who connected with Sessa because their kids were in preschool together. Sessa says Maita brought an "element on piano, which I had never put in my music, that fulfilled my search for a classic samba jazz sound." It really did.

The song comes with a video by Rollinos, which you can watch below.

Pequena Vertigem de Amor is out 11/7 via Mexican Summer.
