Joyeria – “Troubled Youth”

It's really fucked up that we've got artists called Joyer and Joyeria releasing music at the same time. It's like someone intentionally set out to confuse the music bloggers of the world. Don't do that! We're already so easily confused! But it seems very unlikely that these two very different artists are working as some kind of indie-blog psyop. Joyer is a duo of two American brothers, and we posted their new song "At The Movies" earlier today. Joyeria, meanwhile, is a Polish-born, London-based songwriter who's part of the extended Speedy Wunderground scene over there. See? Totally different. It's fine. Nobody is trying to fuck with us. It's just like when we had all those Wolf and Deer bands.

Anyway. Joyeria. His new EP Graceful Degradation drops on Halloween, and he recorded it with Speedy Underground boss Dan Carey on production. We already posed lead single "The Swimmer." Joyeria's latest is an elegant seen-it-all post-punk workout called "Troubled Youth." Joyeria, who plays guitar and viola on the song, sounds like a person who has seen some things, and I like the knowing playfulness of his baritone. Someone named Lau directed the video. You can see it below.

The Graceful Degradation EP is out 10/31 on Speedy Wunderground/[PIAS].
