Lil Uzi Vert has gone indie — sort of. The influential rapper's new single out today was released independently but distributed by Roc Nation. (UPDATE: It's two singles now.) According to a press release, Uzi joins Jay-Z and Rihanna as the only artists to be managed and distributed by Roc Nation, and they own their master recordings going forward. Uzi also signed a deal with Roc Nation Publishing. So, yeah, Uzi is no longer working with a record label, but they're still working with one of the more powerful organizations in music.
As for the new songs, the first is called "Chanel Boy," and it finds Uzi's voice wildly careening over production by ZeeGoinXrazy. Less than a day later, Uzi followed that single with "Relevant," a playful two-minute rage track with production from Trillion, Rima, and Trilla. Check out the music videos below.
