Seattle scuzz-punks Filth Is Eternal have been making grimy, hooky rippers since back in the day when they were known as Fucked And Bound. They're a truly underrated underground force, and I was impressed when I finally got to see them open for Baroness a couple of years ago. That's when they were touring behind their last album, 2023's Find Out. This spring, they'll return with new one called Impossible World.
Like a whole lot of other music coming out these days, Impossible World is a inspired by the increasingly hostile and shitty environment in which we all find ourselves. It's got collaborations with Blood Brothers' Johnny Whitney, Fall Out Boy's Joe Trohman, Gina Gleason, and Lauren Lavin. Album opener "Stay Melted" is a surly but spirited melodic attack that reminds me of Scowl's most recent stuff. The Sebastien Deramat-directed video is made to look like something that you might've encountered on 120 Minutes in the '90s. Check out that clip and the Impossible World tracklist below.
