Julia's War, the Philly label run by They Are Gutting A Body Of Water's Douglas Dulgarian, has been reliably releasing some very good records over the past few years (including a few Album Of The Week honorees). The latest addition to their roster is Cashier, a Louisiana quartet who've already shared stages with bands like Dinosaur Jr. and Narrow Head despite not even having a full-length project out. This March, though, Cashier will share their debut EP The Weight, which they've announced today with its lead single "Like I Do."
"This one is more of a piece of generic rock," Cashier bandleader Kylie Gaspard explains in a press release. "We kind of wanted to make our own version of that sound. The lyrics are very simple, just about two people figuring each other out, what feels right when you’re unsure of a scenario, and navigating another person’s energy."
For those whose ears perk up at the mention of "lo-fi production" and "fuzzy guitars," this is a case where simplicity works. Check out the visualizer for "Like I Do" and see the full EP tracklist below.
