Iceage Return With “Star,” Their First New Song In Five Years

Alva Le Febvre

We are entering into a new Iceage. The Danish band, longtime purveyors of dark, dirty, glamorously bleak post-punk, have been absent from the spotlight for about half a decade now. We've been hearing a lot from frontman Elias Rønnenfelt, who's kicked out three solo albums since 2024: Heavy Glory, Speak Daggers, and the Dean Blunt collab lucre. But until today, the state of Iceage has been a bit more mysterious.

"Star," the first new Iceage song since 2021's Seek Shelter, is out now. It's a love song and a pop song, with a video by Thinh T. Petrus Nguyen that gets the most out of Rønnenfelt's good looks and charisma. "You got me dyin' like a star," he sings over his bandmates' propulsive jangle.

This song is exceptional, so enter into its orbit below.

"Star" is out now on Mexican Summer.
