The new duo Casi brings together Eli Edwards from Band To Watch alums Enumclaw with his childhood friend Xay Young. Edwards moved away from their Tacoma-area hometown in 2024 to relocate to LA with Enumclaw, but on return trips back home, he's been working with Young on music that represents a big shift from Enumclaw's '90s-indebted indie rock. Genres mentioned in the press release include hip-hop, hardcore, nü metal, and emo, and yes, the spirit of Methods Of Mayhem is strong with these two.
Casi's self-titled debut album is out in June on Carpark. Its lead single "JUMPER" is brash and explosive, and they have this to say about it:
We were supposed to play our first show down in LA at a venue close to downtown and due to the curfew placed around the ICE protests we weren't able to do it. We ended up spending most of the day driving around the city trying to find something to do, seeing some really upsetting stuff. You're on the freeway and a squad of 10 cop cars will fly by filled with 4 guys with AR’s, and we're all thinking "for what?." They were putting peoples grandparents in cuffs and kids getting tear gassed, it just was all so dehumanizing. We were charged up, and it really comes through on this track.
