Junior Varsity’s New EP Is Ready

Last year we named the LA alt-pop group Junior Varsity a Band To Watch. They've since pared down to a duo, with singer Brooke Danaher no longer listed as a band member and singer-songwriter-producers Greg Aram and Zach Michel remaining. Last month they released a single called "Radio," and it turns out that song is part of a new EP out today called Ready.

There are four more full-fledged songs plus an intro here, and they continue to put an immaculate 2010s-ish professional sheen on 2000s-ish indie-pop throwbacks. The appealing guy-girl vocal dynamic remains intact thanks to guest spots from artists including Oxis, Lola Blue, the Teenagers, and Unflirt, and the production is sparkly and propulsive.

This EP is billed as Side A, and it's got me eager to hear Side B when it drops later this year. In the meantime, enjoy Ready below.

Ready is out now via Key.
