Lightning Bug Announces New EP In Between Things: Hear “Song for a…”

Lightning Bug started as singer-songwriter Audrey Kang's solo project. Then, it became a full band. Now, it's back to being Kang's solo project. The last Lightning Bug album was 2024's No Paradise, and that was a full-band deal. Since then, Kang has moved from New York to LA, and she shared her demo for "Feast" to help raise money for California wildfire recovery last year. That song will open Lightning Bug's new EP In Between Things, which drops this summer.

Audrey Kang has traveled all over the world in the past few years, and the In Between Things EP reflects those travels. Today, she shares "Song for a...," a blissful reverie that makes the most of her floaty, expressive voice. Kang co-produced the track with Sam Robertson and Ryan Richter. It starts out soft, with Kang singing over a fluttery acoustic guitar, and it keeps its sense of stillness even as the track builds.

In a press release, Audrey Kang says, "The song expresses the jolt, sudden awakening of falling in love — the zig-zagging between closeness and distance, among all the new unfoldings as you work out the friction of how to let someone in while keeping yourself safe. As if that’s even possible." Below, check out "Song for a..." and the In Between Things tracklist.
