Hayley Williams' first solo tour is going just dandy. The Paramore leader has brought out Josh Scogin, Jason Isbell, Rachel Brown, Jenny Lewis, and more, and last night in London she was joined by Romy for a Prefab Sprout cover.
During her first night at the Roadhouse, where she'll be taking the stage again tonight, Williams performed the UK band's "Wild Horses" from their 1990 record Jordan: The Comeback with Romy.
“Hayley has got to be one of the most incredibly talented and biggest sweethearts of all time, her voice is literally unreal!!” Romy wrote on Instagram. She continued:
“Hayley has got to be one of the most incredibly talented and biggest sweethearts of all time, her voice is literally unreal!!” Romy wrote on Instagram. She continued:
“I’ve been in awe of her for so long and getting the chance to sing with her last night was a dream
“When she asked me to do a cover, I was so happy that she introduced me to this magical song, was my first time hearing it and what a gift.
“Her show is so amazing, anyone going back tonight or the rest of the tour you are in for a treat, big love to you Hayley and all your band and team.”
Williams also posted on her own Stories: “romyyyyyy that perfect voice in my ears! thank you forever.”
The night before, the xx member was brought out by Beverly Glenn‐Copeland at Harry Styles' Meltdown festival at London's Royal Festival Hall to sing the Canadian singer-songwriter's 2004 song "La Vita." Romy sampled that tune on "Enjoy Your Life" from her 2023 solo album Mid Air.
On Instagram yesterday, Romy wrote, "I first heard La Vita when Robyn invited me to see Glenn play in Stockholm in 2018, the moment I heard the song it took hold of my heart and has never let go. It meant the world to me to have Glenn's blessing to use the sample."
