Bob Dylan is still shuffling his band lineup. This past Friday, July 10, another new guitarist quietly joined the group. Memphis-based rhythm & blues guitarist and vocalist Jad Tariq performed with Dylan's band in Cincinnati, Ohio at PNC Pavilion.
Tariq replaces Julian Lage, which makes sense considering that Lage has conflicting European tour dates scheduled this month. Lage had only been part of the band for a few weeks. Chicago jazz and blues musician Joel Patterson was also there — he was enlisted at the end of last month, replacing Doug Lancio and filling in for Lage. Guitarist Bob Britt exited the group shortly after Lancio left, and later said that he'd quit.
Dylan's next show is tonight in Pittsburgh, PA at Stage AE.
Another show, another surprise new guitarist. Memphis jump blues player Jad Tariq, who plays with Charlie Musselwhite, joins the Bob Dylan band in Cincinnati, replacing Julian Lage who's off in Europe.
