Right Here Waiting (To Clear The Air)

A few days ago, Chicagoist discussed a Tribune article on local-hero Richard Marx, musing that at this point, "If this were "Behind The Music," this would be the point in the story were Marx starts doing crank or getting ripped off by a sleazy accountant," before reminiscing about "the series of videos for 'Hazard,'" the dramatic, black-and-white clip about the loner guy and the girl gone dead.

But Chicagoist didn't know that Richard's a fact-checker! He soon wrote them this email:

While I appreciate the generally positive, albeit backhandedly so, "update" you posted, your information is somewhat misinformed ... there was never a "series" of videos for my single, "Hazard." Don't know where you got that.

Just keeping the record straight. And Grammy, yes....but no, no crack habit.....yet.

Richard Marx

Grammy winner and funny, ta boot! Pressed for clarification on the vids, he fired off one more witticism:

There were 2 versions of the video. The second was re-edited only for Europe and had shots of me actually singing the song, which made the storyline LESS revealing. There was never a plan for a third. Shit, man.....Isn't there a North Korean nuclear threat to write about???!!!!
R

But aside from Devendra, who wants to ponder nuke threats when they could be thinking about this!

So weird! But Richard, you should really direct your disappointment here:

Clay Aiken ? "Right Here Waiting" (MP3)

We didn't even write the song and we're upset.
