Last night in NYC, the Webbys held their 11th Annual award presentation ceremony, for which winners were limited to five-word acceptance speeches. Even the Thin White Duke, who won for "Webby Lifetime Achievement Award," had to play along -- and he did so in royal fashion. Via Times Online:
Bowie, accepting his award, said: "I only get five words?", then continued: "S***, that was five. Four more there. That's three," before finishing up with: "Two," and then exiting.
We're told the crowd "hollered its approval." And later, the Facebook crew put the finishing fiver on the night with their speech:
I'm just here for Bowie.
