Chrome Dreams: The Sequel! But not really. In '76, Neil announced Chrome Dreams but never made good on the promise. So now we get the follow-up to that unheard LP, only this one's so definitely-coming-out that Neil's offered up four advance tracks as an appetizer. He calls it "an album with a form based on some of my original recordings, with a large variety of songs, rather than one specific type of song," and quick listens of the II tracks indeed show he's pulling from everywhere, and pulling well: donning his Godfather cap on the grungy "Dirty Old Man," working a soulful swing on "The Believer," joined by a chorus of sopranos on the piano track "The Way," rocking and kicking up dust on "Spirit Road."
