Timothée Chalamet Is Not EsDeeKid, Raps With EsDeeKid

Last week, Timothée Chalamet recently refused to say whether he's the secret identity of masked UK rapper EsDeeKid. When questioned directly, Chalamet merely said, "All will be revealed in due time." All has now been revealed. Contrary to unserious internet rumor, Chalamet and EsDeeKid are not the same person. They do have a song together, though.

This afternoon, Timothée Chalamet posted his EsDeeKid collaboration online. In the video, two shadowy masked figures meet a street and in a kitchen. They do kind of look alike, at least as far as we can see. One of them is Timothée Chalamet, and he peels off the mask to reveal the face. The other is EsDeeKid, who stays masked. Chalamet then proceeds to rap a verse over EsDeeKid's "4 Raws" beat.

On his "4 Raws" remix verse, Timmy Tim says he's trying to stack a hundred million, chants the name Marty Supreme three times, and claims that he's Ryan Reynolds in Wrexham, that he's havin' fun just sextin', and that his dick is young and restless. He references the late OG Maco's viral 2014 hit "U Guessed It." He says, "Chillin' in a coupe in a four door/ Live on Arrakis, in Mordor." As a rapper, it's a good thing this kid can act. As a movie-promotion publicity stunt, this is elite-level shit. This is beautiful. Bear witness below.

Chalamet is already deep into his charm offensive to promote Marty Supreme, the Josh Safdie-directed Oscar contender that finally comes out next week. Elsewhere in his promo push, Chalamet is out here trying to tell his co-star Gwyneth Paltrow about Weyes Blood.

Chalamet and Paltrow recently talked to each other for a Vogue video, and the conversation turned to music. Part of that conversation, in which Chalamet tries to put Paltrow onto Weyes Blood, is now making the rounds. Chalamet says the name like "Waze," but I think you're supposed to say it like "Wise." He also says that Weyes Blood recorded some background vocals for Marty Supreme. I'm not sure what that means. Maybe she's on the Daniel Lopatin score? Paltrow has never heard of Weyes Blood, and she seems vaguely annoyed that Chalamet is presenting her with this information.

There's a pretty good amount of music-talk in the full video. Paltrow says that the first album she bought with her own money is the Go-Go's' Beauty And The Beat, though she can't recall the title. She further says that the first record she owned might've been Michael Jackson. When Chalamet asks her if the MJ record was Bad, she does incredible mom-scoff work.

Chalamet says that his car singalong song is D'Angelo's "Lady" — a bold choice, especially if anyone else is riding in that car. Paltrow names Bonnie Raitt as her go-to. Chalamet has never heard of Raitt, and Paltrow uses the word "americana" to describe her music. That's what leads Chalamet to Weyes Blood. He says that she's kind of americana. Maybe? I guess? But Bonnie Raitt and Weyes Blood don't really belong to the same genre, I don't think. Here's the full video.

In a recent interview, Chalamet also had some nice things to say about Susan Boyle and her famous 2009 Britain's Got Talent audition: "She dreamt bigger than all of us... Who wasn't moved by that? I remember that like it was yesterday. That was, like, the advent of YouTube, you know." A couple of days ago, Boyle responded on Instagram, writing that Chalamet's words were "so incredibly touching to read."

What, you thought that was all? That's not all. Here's Chalamet doing a Kirk Franklin singalong with Druski.

Here's Chalamet discussing his Grammy nomination with Jimmy Fallon.

I was already writing this post when the EsDeeKid video dropped. So that's all for now, unless Chalamet does some other damn music-related thing in the next 15 minutes, which seems entirely plausible.
