“Come Back” isn’t as immediately compelling (or accusatory) as our first taste of Sounds Of The Universe, but the drifting, downcast song offers a nice contrast to “Wrong“‘s throttled industrial-line angst. What we have here is the band in a more sensitive Mode: Not quite on the same part of the sensitivity meter as “Somebody,” but Dave is asking for the loved one to, please, “Come Back.” You could read it as a “Comeback,” too, if you wanted, because these songs are pretty good DM songs. Also, they’ve affixed venues to their North American tour itinerary:

  1. It sounds like a b-side. Martin needs to swallow his pride and bring Alan Wilder back.

“Wrong” was good, “Come Back” was okay, and “Hole to Feed” was really bad. The PR for this album has really been well thought out, which scares me. I hope they didn’t try to grab as much hype as they could with the first single cause it’s the best! :(

If you ask me Playing The Angel was their comeback with mostly solid songs throughout the album. Really crossing my fingers that Sounds Of The Universe doesn’t mean that was the fluke. I mean with a title like that how can it not disappoint? :(

  4. The video looks like something your aunt would shoot on vacation and then show you. “Look, this is the view from the bridge. And here’s a traffic light! And here’s a bench.”

I can’t stop listening to “come back”… it is an excellent song, very well composed… those melodramatic chords make me fell, mmm, well… nostalgic and happily sad… ahhn the power of music…
