God I hate giving into RJ, but shut up kid. Just shut the fuck up.
i don't know how i've misse dout on this so far, but, YES. Thank you. This his funny. As Shit. Oh, RJ.
This being NME, I'm surprised at the lack of U2 songs - only saw "ONE". The 90's were the best period for them.
well it's hard not to be serious about it with lyrics like that... i dunno. big turn-off for me.
Hey. You're cute. But you keep talkin' bout the Shins on these NEW lists - that single came out in January and the album is out now too - doesn't mean you/we won't love it for the rest of our lives, but thins move fast here on the internets. Old news ;)
Jason Lytle - Department of Disappearance
Yeah, well, I just hope Danger Mouse can wrangle them in. Simplify the production. More drums (duh). Always a decent band (U2), but overproduction has killed them since All That You Can't Leave Behind (some gems on that one though).
is it just me or does it seem like they are over-exposing this album? kinda like noel gallagher's high flying birds last year, the release date seems to have been set a bit far out, and they (The Shins? The record company?) try to keep the hype rolling by releasing new songs/videos every damn week. i mean, i know i don't have to listen if i want to wait for the record, but who can resist? it's like the spoiler-filled viral marketing of movies now. teaser sights, 3+ trailers and tons of clips/interviewsmaking-of material put out before the flick hits the screen. good track, though.
Sweet. Lytle's Department of Disappearance will be out this summer already and now *maybe* a Grandaddy release will come of this. Must make sure the Talkscapers know of this.....
the TALK SHOW HOST soundtracked scene is awesome
ripped an mp3: http://www.box.com/s/zoeelf5tsu7facj2vc8b or is that a no-no here.......?
why do i find myself still rooting for this chick and hoping she just gets better and proves everyone wrong someday? i think Videogames seriously brainwashed my ass.
In case anyone wants to grab it: http://www.box.com/s/3enlq7tpupg8z1rrzvrr
But the future train was cool as shit. At least it was to me when I was 11...
I mean, I kinda like it a bit 'cause it's White, but... whatever. It's a decent B-Side.
Go was a total surprise to me and i fell even more in love with it's (often superior) companion, Go Quiet. This is another great surprise - I thought now that the group was back in the studio we might not hear anything solo for a while. perfect christmas present for me!
the worst coldplay single. every teardrop even grew on me. the chorus here can be called "catchy" because it sticks with me in that "why can't i get this shite out of my head" kind of way. though the noah and the whale cover (found here on stereogum) is decent.
don't know what to think about Mylo after a couple of days... i am a huge Viva or Death fan and... this just isn't cutting it for me. on topic - missed out on that willie nelson cut - very nice. and agreed, paradise is much easier to swallow here. it's a couple of things i like to call "subtlety" and "tone".
this is shaping up to be a nice little disc. still can't wait wait to hear Zoo Station by Trent.
Well, I'm loving it. Wholly impressed. Even the B-Sides, I'd Pick You Every Time & The Good Rebel are good tracks.
hmmmm... Well I actually LOVE his song with Gorillaz, Some Kind of Nature. But this... who in the hell could stand a whole album of this?
wow, this is great. maybe i just never found it before, but the only way I've heard this song is low-quality live recordings. though those performances were a bit more... ugh, emotional? still this is great.
Yeah - wait until they announce the prices for that! (U2)
I'm sure I will end up lovin this record like everything Pavement/Malkmus, but I was expecting more from this Beck produced effort than I've heard thus far.
We Used to Wait is striking without the signature piano - can't decide if i actually like it............ or how much. I adore the original.
