this is reallllly off, except for the bottom few. Please Please Me at #9? C’mon, that album is perfect! Magical Mystery Tour is kind of weak except for the singles. Both Abbey Road and Revolver are a lot better choices than Sgt. Pepper!
we can work it out
haha! also, Zooropa is just terrible!
Uh, no. Aside from the singles, Actung Baby is kinda boring. Unforgettable Fire at #1.
No Robot Rock or Face to Face? That’s not good.
Every other song from WYWH is much, much better than WYWH. I remember the first time I heard it, wondering why everyone was telling me it was so great.
most of this list is great, but . . . Wish You Were Here? This is the cheesiest, most by-the-numbers song they ever wrote.
um, I don’t want to get over you should be # 1
MBV, Bleeding Rainbow, Dan Friel, Flaming Lips, Dirty Beaches, James Blake
you could have had them all from the self titled record. perfect album!
Hell fucking no. Your Blues is probably the best album of the 2000s. 1st all the way. What are you guys missing?
skew it on the bar-b never gets any love
no ceremony or in a lonely place? those should be 1 and 2.
I dunno, as long are you aren’t living in ny/sf/chicago, having a large enough space shouldn’t be a problem. If you want to do it, you can figure out a way to record yourself or a your band anywhere. Even drums and vocals (recording really good sounding drums seems to be an art unto itself tho. And sometimes I’ve wondered how vocals would sound through a really nice pre-amp and tube mic). I just didn’t want to say there’s no reason for paying for studio time.
record your own music. spent about $3,000 on the first album I ever recorded to get it professionally mixed. After that, I bought Pro Tools and spent absolutely nothing making albums 2, 3, 4, and now five. no money at all! (sidebar: a pleasant surprise, people liked the ones I paid no money for a lot more than the one I maxed my credit card out on). Admittedly, I started recording in my bedroom on 4-track when I was 14 and it’s taken me til now to really know what I’m doing. Even so, get a free subscription to tape op, spend $400 for recording software/interface and get going (or use garage band/audacity for free)
Still, you might want to record vocals / drums at a real studio
do the jam, cheap trick, sparks, and elvis costello
storytelling is an awesome movie. TBWTAS is the equal of IYFS, if not better. Tigermilk just below that. DCW at number 2 is just ridiculous. not a good album at all.
Good Lord, did I ever love this album in middle school. I wish I could see my face when I first listened to WTTJ. My mom took all four of my GNR tapes (and Blood Sugar Sex Magik to boot) away some time in 7th grade cause of the PA stickers–it was a terrible day. Still really love this album, even though I’m not so much of a hard rock fan.
you forgot Department of Eagles released an album in 2010 called “Archive 2003-2006″
