Portugal. The Man
Does anyone else get a Big Echo era Morning Benders vibe from this song? I mean that in the best way.
You must not be from this area.
Why does Pitchfork keeping calling her “controversial”? Her lyrics aren’t explicit, there’s no swearing, I assume she’s not racist…
From what I can gather all that’s supposedly controversial about her is she kind of said fuck off to Lizzy Grant and became Lana Del Rey.
Hahaha!
Does no one else like the new ones form Okkervil River, The Decemberists, Iron & Wine, and The Dodos? Decemberists and Iron & Wine came out early in the year, so I could see people forgetting that they came out in 2011, but Okkervil River and The Dodos were just a couple of months ago and they’re still not getting the praise they deserve.
Well, after getting down-voted like a motherfucker, I gave tUnE-yArDs another shot and listened to the full album. I guess there’s just something I don’t get – I still think it’s super annoying. Also, I realize I sounded like an idiot in my last post. I should have said “it got too annoying”, it meaning her voice, rather than “I got too annoying”. Finally, I wish she didn’t spell tUnE-yArDs like a middle school girl.
I thought I was into Tyler, the Creator for a while, but Goblin is just the same song after song. I really like Sandwitches and Yonkers, which is to be expected seeing as they are the lead “singles”, but I got tired of the album about halfway through it. Maybe I need to give it another shot, I don’t know.
Whaaaaat?
I’ve only listened to Bizness and couldn’t get past her voice. The music is really cool, but I got too annoying to listen further. Does it get better or is it all pretty similar?
This pleases me.
Fleet Foxes at 19? For shame. Also, No Color, I Am Very Far, and Cults should be in there somewhere. But whatever!
Beirut – In the Mausoleum

Well, 2012 was the first calendar year since, like, 2005 that they didn’t release anything, so I’m just assuming that they’ll release something next year. here’s to hoping!
