That said, this is the only list I’ve seen that includes both Winterfylleth and Ash Pool, which I felt were pretty sorely unrecognized all year long.

I mentioned this on Twitter, but I was surprised to see Les Discrets go pretty much completely ignored in every year-end list. Also on Prophecy, Nattsol’s Stemning was a really good record that came out in 2010 (and wasn’t on any list I saw). And I’m not sure if they qualify as “metal,” but I loved the new records from Ihsahn and Man’s Gin. And I don’t know if it came out in 2010 (think it may have been late 2009?) but Nokturnal Mortum’s Voice of Steel was one of my highlights of the year.

Not complaining, mind you — this is an amazing list, with a lot of stuff I now have to go check out.
