Okay, well, that comment was truly stupid, and I think that comment should really focus on what it wants to convey and what it means to be funny and also maybe I don't know remember that PEOPLE DIED and that it's quite ridiculous for the comment to expect to the internet to be sympathetic and see the better parts of its personality when all the internet has to judge it on is the comment itself, which is really the kind of thing that not very many/no non-awful people would find funny. YIKES, gp.

I found this post very entertaining but I must register my displeasure at the misuse of the phrase "beg the question." Go ahead and downvote me, I don't care, it's a pet peeve and I hate it. Kelly, I still think you are very smart and a good writer, it's just my thing. Thank you for listening.

I was on chat a lot too (at nights), but got busy because of exams. I can personally attest that it is an excellent place to talk things out with people who care about you. The best way to get people onto chat is to send out a twitter call. Most of us either follow or have a twitter list of monsters that we check pretty regularly. I used this recently to get some relationship advice and it was really great. What particularly was great about it was not only was i not being judged, I was getting a variety of opinions that I could consider, allowing me to get perspective from all sides of a complicated issue. YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST AND I DON'T EVEN CARE THAT I JUST HIT TWO VGUM STEREOTYPES IN ONE SENTENCE.

I've noticed a bit that there are consistent complaints about one-upsmanship. However, I don't really see it. It is entirely possible that it's there, and if it is there, that it is a bad thing. Personally I just attribute it to everyone being really, really funny. I like you guys. I've never felt ostracized or anything. True, I am zero percent towards my EGOT, but I honestly just think that's because other people say funnier and more interesting things than I do. Maybe the trolling or exclusion comes from the familial atmosphere that vgummers have created. Maybe it's everyone trying to literally outwit the other commenters. I think that if you look for that stuff, then you'll find it. But for me, this is a funny website full of funny people. It's not the end of the world if my comment only gets 9 upvotes. Or no upvotes. Bottom line, everyone is super cool, Gabe is handsome, Kelly is pretty, and I am the smartest person alive.

I completely agree with you, I'm just guessing that Mr. Super Informed Pants up there actually did conflate the two. There are plenty of stories coming out of all corners of the U.S. of trans students winning prom king/queen, but I haven't heard a single one where a gay male student won it.

I grew up in Columbus, and we do that because Ohio is incapable of naming their own cities. Basically every city is named after another city. Athens, Rome, Oxford, Toledo, Washington, even Columbus and Cleveland. So now that I live outside of Ohio, I have to specify that I lived in Ohio because people will assume that it's Columbus Georgia or Indiana or somewhere else. Also who knows where Akron is unless they grew up in Ohio? No one.

I vote that new EGOT winners do, but old EGOT winners (as in before Kelly started, not like old people…clearing that up) do not. #inclusivegum
