As someone whose main career goal is to become a cinematographer, I feel like I’ve already seen the only award I really care about. Not that the VMAs mean much anyway, it’s most just bands I don’t listen to and songs I haven’t heard. Although I’m totally watching at least part of it for my-totally-inappropriate-crush Russel Brand.
I used to love Marcy Playground. They were pretty awesome. Man, I miss the 90s, such great music.
I can not get over how much I love this album. Mystery Jets = so incredibly awesome.
Her voice is really amazing. I love it.
Their song “Wedding Bells” was (supposed to be) my sister and her husband’s first dance. Of course, they learned the problem with requesting indie songs from a wedding DJ.
I hope E6 keeps making new songs until I die. “Gay Bar Part Two” = “My favorite song, but more of it.” Or so I hope.
Yoko may not have musical talent, but she’s a very talented avant-garde artist and renowned for her Dada-ist works. Courtney has no artistic talent of any kind. Comparing the two is ridiculous.
I’m From Barcelona singing M.I.A. would have been so amazing. Too bad.
I’m not really a big Jay-Z fan, but I must say, that was awesome. Well played, Jay-Z, well played.
Maybe Kanye was recently bitten by a vampire and can’t perform in the light now? I know he’s been working on this show for a long time and it’s hard to just last minute change your stage show, but seriously, he should’ve been able to perform without the crazy light show. And of course his people weren’t allowed to set up all day! Other people are using that stage!
Frankly, I’d rather see Pearl Jam than Kanye anyway.
So, I don’t really like Vampire Weekend and I haven’t listened to this song, and I’m not going to watch this video just because I have other things to do. I was just wondering if it’s a bad thing that I know what an Oxford comma is? I’m such a nerd.
I could always use a little more Beck in my life. And so close to my birthday! Yeah, I probably won’t wait for my birthday to buy it.
Miss Sweeney is great song, and I wish it was on the regular album. I have the deluxe, and I’ve listened to that track more than most of the regular Red tracks. tankboy was right about how it’s like a Pinkterton-Blue mash-up kind of track.
Hey, I loled. But then again, I use phrases like “loled” so take that however you like.
Yes, I’ve been waiting for this. “Boys and Girls in America” is pretty much permanently in my CD player (yeah, I’m old school), and I have converted quite a few Hold Steady fans. I’m so excited for new stuff, even if a couple of the songs aren’t that great.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah I can’t wait!!!!!!
My favorite song off We Brave Bee Stings and All. Great video. They’re coming to my town! Sweet, I am so going!
Awesome video! I’m embarrassed I knew who all those people were. I wonder if in the future some people will come across this video and have no idea what is going on.
I can not even describe how beautiful this song is and how great that video is. I love Phosphorescent, and I totally dig the Black Cab Sessions.
I agree with Jimmy James, she just needs some work. The haters should just chill out and enjoy. And saying their music is boring? Couldn’t be more wrong in my opinion.
But hey, that’s just my opinion.
I can’t wait for this album. My friend and I are already planning what kind of sweet Weezer party we’re going to have.
I love the record store here in Richmond, Plan 9. I go there frequently. There aren’t any stores like it back home (I’m a college student going to school in Richmond), so it’s an awesome thing to have and I really take advantage of it.
Ah, Weezer, making good music again. I mean, I kinda liked some of Make Believe, but I’m such a Weezer fanatic there was no way I wouldn’t like at least part of the album. I’ve been looking forward to this album for a long time, glad to finally have a date for it.
I’ve been listening to them for a little while now. They’re great. I love “Extinction.” Hm, might have to get my hands on that 12″…

Last year, the VMAs were being shown at the same time as my friend’s surprise birthday party (not that anyone who was there was planning on watching them anyway). But we were all getting ready to hide because she was almost home, then someone ran into the living room and yelled “Britney’s about to start!” and turned the TV on. Everyone in the room was completely silent and we all just stared for a second after it was over. Then someone went “Was that real?” I’m glad that’s not happening again this time.
