the panda bear song is the worst on the album…its totally out of place and somehow his vocals ruin what could have been a great track….he’s singing wayyyyy too on the beat…annoying…

its good….much more downbeat than the last two…not as good as VW

this is their best yet…impressive on every level

Three Things:

1) Halcyon Digest is by far their worst album
2) The title track is the worst track on this record
3) I dig the record, they sound exciting again…its a super dirty recording

it reminded me of the first time i heard kid a…i felt stoned without the drugs…i still feel stoned from this one…it sounds like the end of the world…crazy weird stuff…i dig more each time i hear it

unfortunately have to agree this is their weakest record to date which is unfortunate…sacrilege and under the earth are the highlights here. alot of potential that just doesn’t materialize in the other songs….the throw back songs, mosquito and area 52 are pretty rough…some cringing

this is simply the evolution of the industry. lets be honest…everyone wants to be a musician or an actor or an artist, and still have stability and a house and kids and a family and healthcare…but its just not in the cards. you either move to LA or pursue your dreams or you don’t. its the way of the world that not everyone gets what they want. if you choose the route of risk, then you may end up poor and disappointed (hopefully the art fulfills you). If you choose the less riskier route, the art becomes a passion that is similar to a second job, not something you count on to live by but something that fulfills your life.

the music industry and technology are the way they are…things have changed, and you have to adapt or die, there’s no point in fighting it. the amount of music being made and released is growing exponentially every year, not everyone is going to pay for it or listen to all of it. but if you can get it for free you’re going to listen to alot more of it, and i think thats a trend everyone is seeing.

seriously though, you gotta get real, not everyone is kurt cobain, not everyone is in grizzly bear…if you’re talented, dedicated, lucky and are in the right place at the right time, maybe the stars will shine on you, but not everyone deserves to be able to live the dream life off of selective occupations that many people would like to do. people have to be realistic

first half is the best stuff they’ve done…second half aside from gun shy gets a little slow / plodding / boring

 +1Posted on Aug 7th, 2012 | re: The xx - "Chained" (42 comments)

both of the new tracks are weak….don’t do anything more or better than the first album highlights…hoping there’s a serious arc to this record to make it worth what all you critics are jerking about.
