Did they collaborate or was it more of a conscious coupling?

This album is so insane that I completely agree with this write-up, yet still really like the album. I don't know, I feel like this is the first ever "Podcast Rock" album. Glad to hear the bass is legit in the car. I've been wanting to listen to it on a seventeen hour drive (or however long this thing is). Great write-up, Ian!

I'm on track three and I've laughed out loud four times. Absurd/Comedy version of Benji right here.

I haven't really listened since 'Eskimo Snow', but this track and 'This Ole King' are really promising.

Yeah, both really good tracks. 'God of Love' has a pretty cool guitar part towards the end. I like the album cover too.

Am I insane to think the title track sounds like an instrumental cover of David Bowie's Lazarus? Either way, both awesome tracks.

It's only fans from seven different countries that can't show up wearing scarves. Dishonest Stereogum is misrepresenting this Drakecutive order. SAD!

Yeah, I think music coverage is a huge factor here. I'm surprised at how many new blogs cover the exact same things as Pitchfork and Stereogum, without even trying to have their own voice. It's strange how many people want to be individuals, but only within a narrow range. Perhaps Youtube is the future of music crit/coverage. I dig The Needledrop and Dead End Hip Hop. But I don't know, maybe there just isn't that much demand for variation? I mean Pranav Trewn is posting new music here all the time with zero comments. Poor Dude!

I like this kind of shooting-the-shit style convo. Robin is being diplomatic/optimistic, which is good. It could have easily gone into "Music isn't good anymore!" territory. There's so much legit stuff going on all the time. I agree in 2009 you didn't have to look as hard to find it (in most cases), but I think people give up too easily on the search. That's what music is all about! As for this class system talk about music. I think when that set of "celebrities" came out on stage for Tidal, that was the closest music has come to looking like some party of elites. Luckily we've seen it immediately fail. Whereas Bandcamp seems to be doing better. But who really knows?

I'm liking the new stuff. I hope "Hell to the Liars" makes it on the album. Not sure why I'm so drawn to this group when I usually don't go for this kind of stuff.
