Hey, at least they’re getting laid.
even when i don’t love his music (but I often do), he’s still brilliant.
I agree, Zooropa is very underrated.
And Achtung Baby would have been a great record to use for your stereogum tribute series. (is this it was cool too)
so you’re saying I should listen to more Washed Out, enjoy it while it lasts, cause I’m not going to remember who they are in four years?
Titus Andronicus, No Age, Bass Drums of Death, White Denim, Crocodiles, The Horror, Ty Segall.
so far, so good. very good.
So, which one do you think is bad Brandon?
obviously coming from someone who aced “Music Snobbery 4400: Condescension and Self-Validation”
say what you will about chill-wave, but it does make great make-out music.
I forget just how much Stereogum sways into Metal/Hardcore etc. this list really reflects that.
why is “irrelevant” the latest dismissive buzz-term anyway? it doesn’t mean anything! I mean, relevant to who or what exactly? relevant to mainstream culture? this is an indie music blog, after all. I’m sure her fans find her ‘relevant’.
It’s like the term ‘FAIL’ as it’s used these days. it’s a quick shorthand way for someone to say they disapprove, but without any thought or consideration.
get off my lawn, you damn kids!
at least there are quite a few bands on here i’m not familiar with, will give me something to look into.
Kinda feel like Okkervil River’s ‘I Am Very Far’ deserves a mention in there. and by ‘kinda’, i mean, really.
Also, where’s Lykke Li? Timber Timbre’s album is fantastic. to name a few.
it’s ‘post’-chillwave now, is it?
while we’re at it, I would say that Date with the Night, while a great song, is a little too gritty or harsh to be considered for a ‘summer song’. opinions.
now you know too much about me.
fair enough.
“Date with the night” over “Maps”? huh.
Is “children’s hospital” a funny show? I don’t know! But as long as that clown is in my face, I will steer clear of this blog! AAARRRAAAGGGhH! I hate that clown!
i didn’t listen all the way through “wonderwall” before. that makes sense now.
the three of these I listened to sound nothing like radiohead. the “sunday bloody sunday” one is definitely U2 singing their own song. In fact, it’s their Live from Sarajevo version from the “if god will send his angels” single.
I thought Chill-wave wouldn’t survive past the summer of ’09. I’m glad it has.
I’m not saying there aren’t other more high-energy performances out there. but “most boring eva”? I’m just saying, this one is fine.
I just might replace this song for “vanderlyle crybaby geeks” on my own version of High Violet.

I’d say Justin Vernon has more than proven he has song-writing chops, with or without technology.
