i don’t like the tone of a lot of stereogum posts either. but i go here for the updates, not for the tone of the writing. but i guess they’re just pandering to the market, because it seems like most popular indie music blogs (w/ a few exceptions) assume the tone of an inane 17 year old.

i really like this! it reminds me of king crimson. i have to say though, there is something about this that disappoints me.
every time i would watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzMJyUboKwQ , I would be totally awed over the song clip that starts at 2:07. i was hoping that that was part of a song. well it turns out it is. it turns out it’s part of “river of brakelights,” but, unfortunately, JULIAN IS SINGING OVER IT EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS, so you don’t get to hear it in its simple instrumental beauty. AHCK.
These songs seem to be full of layers of great, melodious stuff. I think it would be cool to get a hold of these in a form where you could open it up in music editing software, just to explore all the layers.

sound-wise or lyrically? cuz i don’t really see it sound-wise but i guess i could lyrically. sound-wise i think it sounds like cold new england winter.

after listening twice i still can’t hear him playing guitar so i cant tell how he sounds.
i was very faintly hearing something, and it was cool, but im not sure if that was him or if i was just imagining things.
