Couldn’t agree more. A Wizard/A True Star sounds like nothing else from that era.

They’d better reference Peter Gabriel-era Genesis. None of that “Invisible Touch” shit.

Am I going to get beaten up for saying I think Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is the best of the year thus far?

I can’t get all that into Dirty Projectors. It’s like Portishead last year. I recognize that it’s a good album, it just doesn’t appeal to me.

The Chinaman is also not the issue here.

Exile in Guyville can’t touch Slanted And Enchanted. Also, no Three EP’s? Isn’t Regal an indie label? Likewise, no Vs. or Signals, Calls, and Marches by Mission of Burma = EPIC LIST FAIL. That was on Ace of Hearts, which was most definitely an indie label.

I’m more of a Red Medicine guy, myself, but you can’t really go wrong with any of those four albums. They’re all pretty close.

Narcissistic, selfish and deluded… gee who does that sound like?

Any list that has Smoke on the Water and not Highway Star is terrible. Seriously, Highway Star is better in every conceivable way. Having the easiest riff to play on a guitar does not make a song great. But, what the hell, this list is bullshit anyway. Liked the inclusion of Cult of Personality and Love Removal Machine, though. These lists always forget that it’s a search for the GREATEST, not the most popular. Won’t Get Fooled Again and My Generation are good songs, make no mistake, but there is no Who song in existence better than “The Real Me” off of Quadrophenia, which is arguably the best bass song ever. Also would’ve liked to have seen some QoTSA (No One Knows? Fucking Buckcherry made this list!) and a Metallica song that ISN’T OFF THE BLACK ALBUM. Seriously, is …And Justice For All too much to ask? Fuck Bret Michaels, and fuck VH1.

Jesus. I hope this ISN’T how Arcade Fire is, because it would totally prove Wayne’s point. Not really sure who to side with on this (leaning towards Wayne, more asshole reports on Win), but hopefully Win isn’t as a big a douchebag as you.

If you planned on putting up a shitty list anyway, why not go all out? Where’s a Kerrang! list?

I can’t believe this is anything but a coincidence for this simple reason: it’s a 2004 Satriani song. I find it very hard to believe that Chris Martin is such a huge shred guitar fanboy that he would listen to anything by Satriani, and even if he were, why would you listen to anything after Surfing with the Alien, his only claim (unrightful, but still) to any kind of relevance. This is clearly a coincidence and a money grab by Satch. Next thing you know, Yngwie Malmsteen will be suing Travis, or Buckethead will sue Radiohead. This had better be thrown out because of how unlistenable Satch’s “elevator shred” music is.
