Heard their headline set at the Paradiso Tue night was incredible!! Robin did a couple new songs solo sans mic that were jawdroppingly good. Can’t wait to see them on the 30th!
Haha, just mentioned this yesterday in comments about I Became A Prostitute. A wee bit late Stereogum, but better late than never. :–)
People really should buy the single so you don’t miss out on this amazing b-side.
You if you like I Became A Prostitute, you should definitely buy the single. The b-side In The Blackout is even better!!
For all the naysayers who think KOL have lost their edge, listen to this new “song” they’ve been playing on tour. Only By The Night was a misstep, but the new record is gonna rock your socks off if this is any indication. So soulful.

Was lucky enough to see their first sold out show in DC (out of the 3 they played) Sunday night. Really liked Runaway, but not as sold on Vanderlylle and Blood Bust. Both had an alt-country vibe that imo paled in comparison to the Alligator and Boxer songs they played. Of course, a lot could change when they get into the studio, but something tells me the new album is going to be a big departure from Boxer. Good news for some, less so for others.
Radiohead were soundchecking new songs throughout the IR 2008 tour. Based on that alone, i’m guessing we’ll see a new album in about a year. Hell yeah!!
Saw their headline show in DC a couple weeks ago (in addition to their Philly show supporting Mogwai). They played this song and 3-4 other new ones. All i can say is if you like Reflection of the Television, just wait till you hear the others. A couple of them are absolutely epic!!
Seeing them at the 9:30 Club in three weeks. This has really got me excited about hearing the new songs!
Couldn’t agree more with his views on vinyl. Was chatting with the owner of my fave neighbourhood record store in DC on Sat, and found out they sell twice as much on vinyl as on CD.
The way forward i hope.

This is like godawful karoke. Yikes!!
That’s your opinion. Bob Dylan and Ed OBrien would disagree. And i’d take their opinion on music over yours any day of the week.
As for the cover, love it. So wistful and haunting.
)
Because Coldplay will sell a shitload of tickets. Simple as. Sunday will be the first day to sell out, mark my words.
Really excited about the prospect of seeing Tool, Mogwai, and MBV at the same festival. Without having to fly to Europe to do so. Good job, APW!!!
Went last year and it wsn’t bad. Sucks that there’s no camping allowed, and the 5 beer limit was a bit weird. But listening to Radiohead against a backdrop of the Manhattan skyline was one of the best experiences of my life.
Not to mention some of the nicest, most down to earth people you’ll ever meet. Absolute sweethearts all of em.

Yeah, truly cringeworthy. And from a band who did such a brilliant cover of Dire Straits ‘Romeo and Juliet’. Afraid they lost their edge somewhere along the way …
Cheers for this. Love the Black Cab sessions.
Saw them open with this in DC the night before, and it was soooo much better. Completely different band. But to be fair, they had a 5:30 am load-in in NY and didn’t leave DC till 3 am. So i’m guessing they were still massively hungover when this was taped.

WTF is wrong with you people????
It’s not a competition about which record is better or best. Chill out. Stop talking about music like it’s the fucking NCAA tournament. Art doesn’t have winners and losers.

Have you actually bought and listened to these records? No, i didn’t think so. So stop making comments when you don’t know what you’re talking about.
I agree, Sweet Billy Pilgrim’s album is awesome but i’m guessing Florence and the Machine will win. Miles better than Bat For Lashes’ album.
And the one that should really be on this list is Grammatics’ debut. If you haven’t heard it yet, don’t know what you’re missing. AMAZING record!
