His laptop password was ‘ifuckkids’. This is not a joke.
Sorry to be pedantic but Morello features on eight of the album’s TWELVE songs I presume?
Morello features on eight of the album’s TWELVE
They released an awful second album. Turd album out soon.
I immediately scrolled down to make sure Common People was number one. When I saw it was I checked who wrote the article….. Ryan ‘trustworthy’ Leas! Mu’fucka don’t play no bullshit!
This is the worst list you guys have ever done. Truly awful.
Good list, can’t really disagree with much here although I would have Working on a Dream and Devils and Dust in the bottom two places, never listen to those. Human Touch has ‘I Wish I Were Blind’ which is one of my favourite Springsteen songs and Lucky Town is a solid album from start to finish. Also Tunnel of Love always shares my number one spot with Darkness/BTR and Nebraska depending on the day of the week.
No, beautiful song.
Gone for Good is a straight up classic. Sleeping Lessons, Australia, Phantom Limb, Split Needles, Girls Sailor and A Comet Appears are all some of my favourite Shins’ songs. Do I like Wincing The Night Away a bit too much??
Good list, I particularly like the way Happiest Days… and Another Brick in The Wall Pt. II are together. The start of Another Brick… has so much more emphasis when you listen to the previous track.
One of the best articles I’ve read here in a while, great work Michael.
Majical Cloudz’ ‘Childhood’s End’ is mine. I’m having a depressing summer so far but man that song is beautiful.
The lyrics to this song are really shit.
No ‘Home’ and ‘North American Scum’ at #4??? Really?
3 years ago when Ghost released their first album, they were every critics favourite satanic hard rock band making pop tunes with hooks that no one ever heard of. Now, all of a sudden, they’ve made a good album which keeps to the winning formula on the first while developing the sound just enough to give you something more and practically every critic is turning on them! Maybe it’s because now they’re a satanic hard rock band making pop tunes with hooks that everyone has now heard of!
The hipster ‘I knew it before it was big’ attitude in metal is becoming an epidemic.
Regardless of the order of the albums, I’m just happy this articles exists. I’ve revisited At Dawn after what’s been way too long and it still sounds great. Great work Stereogum.
You had me at Titus Andronicus.
I turned that Azealia Banks video off after a minute and a half, someone should tell her to go away.
These guys are fucking great.
Shit, that’s much funnier.
He’s got Myxomatosis.
Ghost’s new one gets the nod for me anyway, although I haven’t listened to this yet. Busy week!
