Yes but we do not need another Sumday. I must admit that I so rarely love one album (SS) and hate another by the same band. Usually at least like SOME of their other output.....
Very happy about this. BUT I am afraid that it will tarnish their original career a bit if it sucks. Folds' solo music hasn't exactly been stellar in the past decade.
I'm thinking that the key to enjoying this album will be to try not comparing it at all to For Emma. I remember seeing an interview with Justin where he said he wasn't worried about the follow up because he thinks albums should be contained and judged within themselves. I feel like no matter how good this album may be, comparing it to For Emma would just ruin the listen. I have too many attached memories to it for this one to overcome it, I think. But if I can just accept it as it is, I bet it'll be stellar.
You know, I'm realizing that if you wanted to give money to charity, you could give quite a lot and receive quite a lot just through what bands like this are doing. I'm very impressed.
Thank you, stereogum readers, for not having the comments turn into a bunch of whining about $9 being too much money and claiming that Radiohead has "betrayed" their fans by not having a pay-what-you-want model. The rest of the internet seems to be acting like children.
When did $9 for an album turn into something to complain about?
