A few takeaways of my own 1. Long sustained barely in tunes notes can easily fool bloggers into thinking someone is a talented singer 2. I wish that goofy bass sound was as even half as awesome as the bass players shirt 3. I never knew that Dinosaur Jr. and Nirvana had a boring lovechild 4. I never again need to wonder if Wavves is something I'd be into.
I dont mean to be an a-hole, but *UGH*, this article is so poorly written. I almost don't even know what this is saying, until going to the Soundcloud page and reading the very concise explanation of the project. And why do Albini and Amanda Palmer even need to be mentioned?
The song however, is beautiful, and makes me very excited for 7 more new tunes from one of the best songwriters living today.
I was just about to say the same thing. What a great way to pay tribute to one of the best drummers and vocalist to ever play rock and roll, right? I'm guessing the dude who wrote this had to youtube "Levon Helm" and "The Band" when he got asked to cover the story.
Bands still use myspace? Or is it just you and your Charlie Sheen cover band on there, all alone?
And BTW, you are ruining Back To The Future by using that quote as your album title.
Jack has played custom Gretsch models in every project he has done outside of The White Stripes, and even seemed to force his bandmates in The Dead Weather to do the same for their album/live shows. Allison Mosshart had a rectangular Bo Diddley style model, Dean Fertita had a big old hollow body and the other Jack had a matching hollow body bass, all of them white with gold appointments. AND, Mr. White played a matching Gretsch drum kit as well.
First Act Guitars, on the other hand, run the gamut from $75 made-somehwere-in-Asia acoustic guitars, to slightly less cheap Paul Westerberg endorsed model, to the hand made in the USA custom models that all the metal bands seem to endorse these days. The latter being probably equal in build and sound quality to a custom Gretsch.
Yes I am a gear nerd. Its something I'm struggling to overcome.
