To dismiss The Love Below as "a noxious turd" is to out oneself as ignorant of everything Prince was doing in the post-Purple Rain '80s. It's the spiritual sequel to all of Prince's psychedelic-funk experimentation and I feel sorry for anyone unable to appreciate its brilliance.
