That Chaotorynth album is so good. Been singing its praises from the mountaintop (Twitter) since it came out. Glad to see it getting some recognition on a site like Stereogum.
Yes, please. More this. All of the time this.
This is exactly what I came here to say. I saw the art before I read the headline and thought it was an article about Deerhunter.
I'd like to start off by saying this is way better than Heaven is Whenever. But man, they produced the shit out of this album. I saw them play a few of these songs live at SXSW, and I gotta tell ya, the recordings filed the edges right off. If I didn't already know some of the great lines in these songs, I would've glossed right over them. The guitars are also much more subdued than they should be. These songs fucking rock live. But just to reiterate, it's WAY better than Heaven is Whenever, and I am enjoying it quite a bit.
I had to click on the link again after iTunes opened and it finally worked. Hooray!
All that link does is launch iTunes. From there I can't find it. Sup?
This is surprisingly good. I haven't really connected with anything they've put out since their debut on Saddle Creek (I can't remember what it was called and I'm too lazy to Google it). This is some pure pop goodness. 2014 is shaping up well.
I guess Soundcloud took it down? Er...at least I'm getting a 404 error.
I confess I've never listened to Against Me! until this morning because I'm not really into punk, but this shit is killer. Getting a strong Hedwig and the Angry Inch vibe here (which considering the circumstances is probably just projection, but whatever).
Studio-wise, I totally agree. But they still make it all work live. I'm just excited that they'll be playing new songs next time I see them.
[insert comment downplaying Deafheaven's contribution because "everyone's freaking out about them" and i don't want to look like a lemming here] These Alcest songs are the shit. Even if it is a retread, it's a retread of things I really, really like.
Breaking Bad choosing Junip's "Line of Fire" for the series finale promo spots was also a stroke of genius.
The Hold Steady and Fucked up would be my #1 and #2 for sure.
Sons of Anarchy was hella good this season, you guys. But, yes. Breaking Bad.
"Like a Rolling Stone" not being the #1 song would be enough of a slap in the face, but not even including it on the list is just laughable.
Great record that has been getting no love.
That's what bumped it up to #1, honestly. Not only do I absolutely love the song, but now it's forever synonymous with the Breaking Bad finale. Hard to top that.
Suspicious in what way? Do you think they're lying?
